We were met by a very rude young lady at the desk, no smile no care for us. She took our records copied them, took care of someone else, left us standing not know what to do so we just sat down. At checkout this same girl was even worse, let me standing at the counter and then walked out of the building.
I thought I would never trust another vet with my dog but now not so sure. The front desk staff was wonderful, as usual. The vet didn't seem very caring. My dog appeared to have a sprain. She wanted to treat with acupuncture, xrays while under anesthesia, IV fluids, blood work...for a total of $1800. I instead decided to try medication-muscle relaxant & anti-inflammatory for $100. If that wouldn't have helped I would have opted for more aggressive treatment. Thankfully my dog was back to his old self within the week. Why perform such aggressive treatment without trying the obvious first?! Never even received a follow up call to see how he responded. I may have to re-think my vet options.
Had to be the worst experience at a vet ever. We tried this vet for my service dog as she has an ear infection but are very sorry we did. We have a great caring vet in Florida and were hoping for the same.
The reviews I read about them money being more important than people or animals sadly was also true for us. The Dr was good but everything else was bad.
Dr. Harper and his staff are wonderful! They go above and beyond for their patient's. The care and compassion they showed me and my family, made our loss a bit easier. They told exactly what was going on with my dog and answered all of questions. I highly recommend Wheatfield Animal Hospital.
So, the office is clean, staff is wonderful, but this place is EXPENSIVE. A urinalysis for our dog was pretty damn expensive, so we will go with another vet for any testing that needs to be done. I really did not care to see a bill for $400, a bill that included a list of options for our visit that I did not ask for, including flea and tick medication. I almost had a heart attack until I realized that we could decline everything but what was done that day, the medication and the office visit. These are our pets, not our cars that we we are bringing to you , so please don't give us a list of things that cost $$$ when we are there for a problem. We do what we can for our dog.... but money is tight, and we can't afford extra care for him.
What a wonderful place to bring an animal. I brought my dog Bailey there for over the past year for various needs.....staff and Dr. Mott were always so extremely caring, as well as informative. Yes going to the vet is expensive, but that is the price we pay for our pets, to keep them alive, and well, and happy. We had to put Bailey down recently and they could not have handled it better. Exemplary beyond words. They showed the utmost compassion, kindness, and love, not just to our dog, but to us as well, exceeded our expectations. So caring and so loving at her last moments, truly surpassed anything I've ever experienced before. I cannot say enough kind words to describe how much I love this place, and Dr. Mott!! Thank you.
We finally we taken in and the vet tech could not have been more condescending. He took our history, took a q-tip to our dogs ear and left. They proceeded to do more billable test WITHOUT our approval. They handed us prescriptions that were very costly without even discissing it with us. We did ask the vet Dr Harper if we could get these elsewher cheaper he said No vet only which was a huge lie. They was 20.00 for prednisone which we were able to get for 4.00 at Wal Mart. Another ear med wanted 50.00 and Walmart was 32.00 and a 3rd they wanted 45.00 but we were able to get without a script for 28.00.
I questioned all of the charges on the bill and the office manager did nothing at all for us. I explained about being upfront with test and cost and she said they do not do that. I was stuck paying a very high vet bill that could of and should have been lower. I would have been better off at the West side walk in clinic. So I would tell anyone considering Wheatfield Small Animal Hospital to seriously reconsider.
